Men place first, Women third at Highlander Invitational

Langhorne, PA - The Keystone College men's and women's cross country teams continued their strong start to the early season as the men captured another first place finish and the women took third at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Cairn University Saturday morning. Justin Clarke (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail) took home the individual championship on the men's side as he broke the course record, set a personal record, and just missed the school record, with a time of 26:14. Following Clarke in third place was Dan Polanco (Hazlet, NJ/Mater Dei Prep) who also set a personal record, crossing the line in 27:07. Jeremy Stonier (East Lemon, PA/Tunkhannock) was not far off of Polanco as he finished in seventh place with a time of 28:19. Sharif Jarvis (Huntington, NY/Huntington), 29:29, Christian Perez (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards), 29:41, Kyle Steiner (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area), 29:53, David Strum (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne), 30:22, and Steven Wright (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), 30:42, all set personal records on the course Saturday morning as well. On the women's side, Amelia Whaley (Cranbury, NJ/Princeton) finished in sixth place overall, crossing the line with a time of 20:13 which places her third on the Keystone College all time list. Kaitlynn Kuchta (Duryea, PA/Pittston Area) finished tenth overall with a time of 20:30 putting her fourth on the Keystone College all time list. Emily Seaman (Pittston Township, PA/Pittston Area), 21:50, and Alicia Breita (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail), 22:22, are now in twelfth and fifteenth place, respectively, on the Keystone College all time list. Breita's time was even more impressive as she set a personal record by 1:38. The men's team has opened the season with back to back first place finishes while the women have beaten every conference school they have faced. The teams will have next weekend off as they prepare for the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, September 21 starting at 11 AM.
