SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Thiel College's Meri Steinmetz (Rairtan, N.J./Bridgewater- Raritan) and Shay Kashey (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) competed in the Slippery Rock University Last Chance Qualifier Friday, and they did not disappoint. Steinmetz took first place in the 5,000-meter run when she finished the distance event in 19:10.17. Kashey placed seventh in the javelin with a lifetime-best throw of 33.70 meters. Some members of Thiel's track & field teams will compete Friday in the Eighth Annual Gator Invitational at Allegheny College.
